Supporting unicode characters

Postby tbrizzi » Thu Jun 20, 2013 10:21 am

Hi,

I'm using Editra 0.6.99 on Windows 7 64bits.

When I copy japanese text from wikipédia and paste it in the editor, characters are displayed as unknown characters. It would be great if Editra natively supports unicode characters without being obliged to use "\u" syntax.

Best regards,

Thierry.

Editra already fully supports Unicode characters and has for almost forever.

See attached image which was from a copy and paste of the welcome to wikipedia text from my webbrowser (chrome).

This is with the current release of Editra 0.7.20.

Binary install of Editra or running on your system python?

Can you show me what you are seeing when you paste it?

From what webbrowser?

Hi Cody,

I'm using Editra 0.6.99 installed from the binary setup.

You can see in the attachment the result of the cut and paste of japanese wikipédia from chrome. The editor displays only squares. Maybe the problem comes from my computer that is not well configured.

Regards,

Thierry.

Do you have the East Asian Language support turned on in your Regional and Language setttings?

The square boxes indicate that you are most likely missing a font.
