[fixed] windows installation wont run from src

Postby reksa » Mon Apr 25, 2011 1:12 am

Not sure if this is a bug or I just messed up with the windows installation.

After successfully running the Editra binary version I uninstalled it
and Installed 0.6.36 from src on my windows xp. Ran Editra.pyw
but wouldn't run (by double clicking it). Ran it in Idle and it said Editra.main() not found
looked in Editra.pyw found that the method was called Editra.Main() (different case).

Gave up and reinstalled binary version again.

I just noticed that a 0.6.37 is out. I havn't tried that yet.

cheers

Hi,

There is a conflict with the version of Editra that wxPython installs (it bundles a version of Editra in its tools package), because windows is case insensitive filesystem. I plan to fix this sometime soon but for now you need to rename the launch script and remove the one that wxPython installs.

So remove the lower case 'editra' python script from C:\PythonXX\Scripts, then rename the 'Editra' one to something like 'StartEditra' an use it instead and it should work.

This should hopefully be fixed in the latest installer for 0.6.48 and later.
