[fixed] Auto-completion for HTML

Postby immortalnights » Tue Jan 11, 2011 1:41 pm

For the most part the auto-completion for HTML is great and will help to save many keystrokes closing tags. However there are some issues that I've found.

Unsure if they are real issues or personal annoyances so figured a thread here would be a good starting point.

  • Use of HTML strict input boxes:
    Example:
    Code: Select all
    <input type="input />

    Issue: When I type the closing ">" it creates a closing "</input>"
    Solution: Don't auto-close a tag if the ">" appears after a "/"?
  • Additional new line/tab for closing created tabs.
    Example:
    Code: Select all
       <div>
          </div>

    Solution: Since it's much easier for a user to add the new line then remove an auto-added one they do not want, would it not be better simple to append the closing tag on the same line?

The first one appears to be a regression bug it shouldn't be adding the closing tag to tags that don't need them.

The second one looks like at least a bug in the indentation on the second line. I agree with your point on not adding the new line, will have to check though as I believe that was added as another feature request or patch from someone else in the past.

Hi,

Actually I just tried testing the first one you mentioned and I cannot reproduce it. Are there any other details that may be at play? (such as column position of cursor, ect..)?

Thanks,

Cody

Took me some time to reproduce it also. I found that I could reproduce it reliably with the steps in the bug I created: Bug 602. It wasn't too easy to explain, but hopefully it makes sense.

Fixed for 0.6.0

Also removed the auto new line insertion that was being done in some instances.
