Hi,

Editra has no option for hiding the menu bar, so it is not doing this. Are you using some sort of window manager setting or other software that might have an affect on this?

Is F10 some global hotkey on Ubuntu? Editra has no such shortcut, what does F10 do?

F10 acts like Alt+F in gnome.
it's very strange behavior!!
i found when i run pype (another python editor), the menubar is invisble too!! :(

out of curiosity do you know which package was at fault?

I think I remember a similar issue when someone installed some package that creates a 'shared' menubar similar to how Mac OSX works.

thanks,

Yea its the 'gnome-applet-globalmenu' that I was thinking about.

The menu probably didn't disappear (if the app was working correctly). It removes the menubar from application windows and creates one global one at the top of your desktop.

see http://code.google.com/p/gnome2-globalmenu/
